Directed by Miguel Pais do Amaral, Quifel Holdings is formed by a small team of 15 people, that works in the various business sectors. The only functional area is the Administrative and Financial area, coordinated by Danielle Foolen, who works together with the Financial Directors of each affiliate. Francisco Santana Ramos and Pedro Marques Guedes follow most investments, with the exception of the Real Estate sector, which is followed by Bernardo Horta e Costa.
Miguel Pais do Amaral
Has a graduate degree in Engineering by Instituto Superior Técnico and a MBA degree by INSEAD
Has initiated his professional career at Goldman Sachs’ London branch and in 1987, he founded Fininter and the investments holding Alfa Capital.
In 1991, Miguel began in Portugal the activity of Private Equity european funds known as Euroknights, being afterwards responsible for the activity of those funds in Portugal and in Spain.
In 1995 , Miguel Pais do Amaral founded the Media Capital group, which became the leading media company in Portugal, working in Television Production, Internet, Radio, Musical Production and Cinematographic Production. The Media Capital Group made an IPO in 2004 and its control was alienated to Prisa group in 2005.
From 2007 onwards, he concentrated his business activities on Quifel Holdings and then made various different investments in many business sectors.
Danielle Foolen
Has a graduate degree in Economics by Universities of Maastricht and of Saragoza.
Has initiated her professional career in Citibank (Portugal) and in ING Barings (Netherlands).
Previously engaged in several management roles in the banking industry (wholesale and project finance) and in companies related to the oil and media industries.
She works together with Miguel Pais do Amaral since 2003, and now is the CFO of Quifel Holdings, being responsible for the coordination of the Financial Sectors of many companies. Currently, Danielle is also a Board Member of CGCI, Partrouge SGPS and Quifel International Holdings. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of Quifel Holdings.
Francisco Santana Ramos
Has a graduate degree in Engineering by Instituto Superior Técnico and a MBA degree by UNL.
Has initiated his professional career in Profabril and Royal Dutch / Shell Oils and was Project manager of the consulting company Mckinsey & Co..
In 1991, jointly with Miguel Pais do Amaral, Francisco launched the Euroknights funds in Portugal.
Currently, he is a Board Member of Reditus Group and Companhia das Quintas. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Quifel Holdings.
Pedro Marques Guedes
Has a graduate degree in Business Administration by Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
Has initiated his professional career in the consulting company Mckinsey & Co. and has engaged in several management roles in other companies of auto (distribution and retail), telecommunications, health and media industries.
He works together with Miguel Pais do Amaral since 2005, and from 2006 onwards he works at Quifel Holdings.
At the moment he is a Board Member of Leya, Planet One, Brio, Gryphon and Partrouge, also working within Mobilera, Edge Capital and Patris Investments. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of Quifel Holdings.
Bernardo Horta e Costa
Degree in Civil Engineering in the Catholic University of Leuven - Belgium, having accomplished a post-graduate course in Executive business Management in UNL.
Worked within the Project companies (Consulpano) and Construction companies (Proconstrói, Construções Técnicas and Socopol), beginning his work in Real Estate sector in cooperation with Miguel Pais do Amaral.
Worked as Director in many companies (Quinta Patino Sales department, and General director of Quinta da Beloura) and worked at the administration of Temple SGPS, having managed many ventures (“Quinta Mineiro”, “Campolide Park” and Residential Building “Alto do Parque”).
From 2007 onwards, he is the manager of many ventures in collaboration with Quifel and also cooperates in the prospection and development of Real Estate Projects and Investments, both in Portugal and abroad.
He is the Vice-President of the Portuguese Association of Real Estate Promoters and Investors (APPII).
Isabel Mesquita
Has a Business Management Degree in Instituto Superior de Economia, having also lectured General Accounting in the Catholic University of Portugal.
Started her professional career in 1973 in the auditing company José Vilela & Inácio Chambel Gião, SROC, having simultaneously worked as the Financial and Accounting Director of many companies of the SECIL group.
She started working with Miguel Pais do Amaral in 1988, and at the present time she is the technician in charge (TOC) of the accounting sector of many companies of Quifel Holdings.
Pedro Pinheiro
Has a graduate degree in Economics by Universidade Nova de Lisboa and has engaged in several management roles in Media Capital Group in the division of M&A, Business Planning and Subsidiaries’ Monitoring.
Works together with Miguel Pais do Amaral since 2001, and from 2008 onwards he joined Quifel Holdings, where presently is the Investment Director.
Paulo Maia
Has a graduate degree in Business Management by Universidade Católica Portuguesa, and has a post-graduation in Fiscal Management through ISCTE. Started his career in the auditing company BDO & Associados SROC, where he practiced directive functions in the Fiscal advisement sector. Currently, he is Tax Manager of Quifel, being responsible for the coordination of the Fiscal sector of various companies and investments..
